Notes on Job Analysis

Manpower planning is concerned with determination of quantitative and qualitative requirements of manpower for the organization. Expatiate knowledge of the nature and requirements of jobs is necessary for determining the kind of personnel required to be filled. Such knowledge can be obtained through the process of job analysis.

Job analysis is a detailed and systematic study of jobs to know the nature and characteristics of the people to be employed on various jobs. Hence, the main objective of job analysis is to collect and analyse the data related to the job.

The data relating to the job may be classified as under:

a) Job identification

b) Nature of the job

c) Operations involved in doing the job

d) Material and equipments required to do the job

e) Personnel qualities required to do the job

f) Relation of the job with other jobs in the organisation
